We shall overcome someday

Bongani Godfrey Mhango

How many lives have you taken from us
But haven’t had enough?
You yawn deep and suck our people
One by one into your belly they dissolve
All you want is to see us gloomy
With head tucked in between our thighs
Drinking from our well of tears
You dare make us hide our mouths and noses
As if we are allergic to roses
And you attack the globe
Piling bodies up in the streets and morgues
You have bullied our doctors like stray pets
But you haven’t had enough for
You still yoke us in cages
Just like we dealt with Ebola
We will deal with you
And humanity shall prevail
As always
